From: Linda Orem, Surf Camp Tripmaster
Troop 787 has been approved and is on their way to planning for FAMILY CAMP at Surf Camp at Imperial Beach, CA (just South of Coronado) the first weekend in August 2008, 8/1-8/3/2008. Mark your calendars! We are tent camping on the beach. No food, except for a small cooler of snacks and drink maybe is required. All meals are provided by the YMCA Camp cooks. Very nice showers and restrooms are provided. Bring your family tents, sleeping bags, pillows, beach chairs and towels and enjoy the surf. For a few group pit fires, we will need a few bundles of firewood, marshmallows and skewers. A few story tellers too always makes it fun. There are all kinds of activities for the entire family, surf lessons and surfing (Don’t forget your wet suits as the water is pretty cold), basketball, volleyball, climbing wall, archery target shooting, Frisbees and kites if you bring along. For the younger siblings, there are art classes, evening entertainment at the camp arena, and everything else listed above. And for those who want to do nothing, this is the perfect weekend for you! Sign-ups and deposit payments are being taken now to hold your spot. Please either deliver your deposit payments to me with the number of family attendees: # parents/Scouters, # and ages of siblings, to the address below or I will be collecting at the next Troop meetings through January 2008. PLEASE MAKE YOUR CHECKS PAYABLE TO TROOP 787. The Troop deposit for all attending families (50%) is due to the camp, by approximately 2/1/08, the remaining balance from all attendees in the Troop will be due two weeks prior to camp date. Fees are $89 per person. (No promises as camp policies have changed, but if there are some very young siblings that might hold your family back from all attending, I might be able to bargain. Let me know if the family attendance is an issue due to the fee for the siblings and how many). If there are Scouts attending and camping/traveling without their families in another family vehicle, the camp medical history form will need to be completed and provided to me prior to camp. |
